it’s just my back

I’ve been a little out-of-commission lately, it’s the back that I’ve already PAMed about in a previous post. Sitting up straight with a pillow behind me is okay but moving my arms is not (rest forearms on desk to type), move with caution, do not bend frontward, backward or twist torso. Getting up or down from sitting or a reclining position is quite the process. Fuck I feel old, decrepit! What a shock it is to move about as per the ‘normal’ and suddenly be immobilized by muscles revolting, tensing, cramping and locking into place. And since it’s the back — well, everything shuts down. The back is SO important and I’ve been neglectful as I’ve aged. I’m paying for it. My only question is: if I behave myself and start a routine of stretching and strength training, will I become more limber? I don’t think I’ll ever return to be as flexible and strong as I was when I was younger, I don’t expect that but I hope — fingers crossed — that I can roll back this stiff and achey body back to something more workable.

Daily Prompt: shock

Your prompt for January 18th, 2018, brought to you by the lovely Sandra, is “Revolt.” Use it any way you’d like in your post. And make sure you visit Sandra at her blog, “What Sandra Thinks” to read her post and say hi! Here’s her link:

  1. Aging sucks, I agree. It’s bad enough we have to start each day with a brand new ache, pain, or twinge. Now I have a torn rotator cuff, which my doctor informed me is quite common for my age group. It causes almost constant mild to moderate pain in my shoulder and frequently flares up when I move my arm in a variety of ways.
